What are some actions taken by UT Southwestern to avoid fraud and abuse?

In UT Southwestern's effort to reduce fraud and abuse, the Billing Compliance Office has provided all employees with a fraud and abuse hotline. The Fraud and Abuse Hotline is a toll-free number that all staff and physicians can use to anonymously report suspected wrong-doing including waste, fraud and abuse, and violations of any Federal or State law.

Fraud and/or abuse is not limited to PPS and can also occur in other ancillary services such as pathology, radiology, pharmacy, nursing, etc

If the employee encounters fraud and/or abuse, they are obligated to report it.

What should I do if I notice fraud or abuse at UT Southwestern?

It is suggested that if fraud or abuse is suspected in a particular division, the employee notify the appropriate individuals in that division first before attempting to contact the hotline.

If you feel you are unable to address the issue through normal administrative channels, you should call the hotline.
