17. Brain, Organizing Spontaneous Intraparenchymal Hemorrhage -

This hemorrhage, centered in the thalamus on the left, is organizing.
It has probably been present for at least a few weeks. Indications of
this are partial resorption of the blood and orangish-brown
discoloration of the adjacent parenchyma due to hemosiderin, a
breakdown product of hemoglobin. Obviously, not all spontaneous
intracerebral hemorrhages are rapidly fatal. What are the most common
risk factors for, and major sites of, primary intraparenchymal
hemorrhage? What determines the patient's outcome?
