We turn to the ventral surface of the brain to examine the circle of Willis. On gross examination, the vessels are rigid and whitish due to the calcification present in the atherosclerotic plaque. If this patient's infarcts are related to his cerebrovascular atherosclerosis, are they more likely to be embolic or thrombotic? Answer
