20. Brain, Venous Infarcts - Gross
These two large hemorrhagic infarcts are venous infarcts. They are the result of thrombosis of the dural sagittal sinus. Infarcts that are the result of venous thrombosis are virtually always hemorrhagic, as long as the arterial blood supply continues. Compare the gross appearance of venous infarcts to spontaneous intraparenchymal hemorrhage.
