8. Pons, Acute Infarct - Gross
The patient had two lesions with this gross appearance of pinkish discoloration, softening & fragmentation, typical of an acute infarct. One was in the left lateral frontal lobe, and this one, in the pons. Associated with this acute infarction of most of the basis pontis, is a thrombus in the basilar artery. This may be the cause of the infarct, but may also occur secondarily.
