5. Schwannoma - Low Power
The schwannoma is also called neurilemoma, particularly by
dermatopathologists. At low power, you can see some of the
characteristics of this generally benign neoplasm. Highly cellular
areas (Antoni A) are predominantly present in this view, with
pallisading nuclei (Verocay bodies). Verocay bodies are found
virtually exclusively in Antoni A regions. Antoni A areas usually
alternate with less cellular, Antoni B, areas, not seen in this
view.
