10. Carcinoma of the Stomach - High Power
High power examination shows individual tumor cells with mucin
formation that pushes the nucleus to the periphery, creating a
"signet-ring" conformation. Gastric carcinoma is classified based on
(1) depth of invasion, e.g., early or advanced, (2) microscopic
growth pattern, e.g., exophytic or excavated (ulcerated), and (3)
histologic subtypes, e.g., intestinal or diffuse. The prognosis
depends mainly on the depth of invasion. What type of carcinoma is
this?
