4. Spleen - High Power
This patient's spleen was greatly enlarged because of the accumulated
glucocerebroside in the splenic macrophages (Gaucher cells). The
normal histologic appearance of this spleen is obliterated by the
large number of Gaucher cells. What is the source of the
glucocerebroside accumulation in these cells?
