8. Goodpasture's Disease; glomerulus with immunofluorescence
This image provides contrast of the pattern of immunofluorescence seen here with that seen in SLE (previous image). Note the linear, smooth distribution of the antibody here compared to the irregular pattern in SLE. In Goodpasture's disease, the antibody is directed expressly against an antigen in the basement membrane intrinsic to the kidney itself.
