13. CNS Lymphoma - Medium Power
CNS lymphomas cause mass lesions in the cerebral parenchyma as well
as a perivascular lymphomatous infiltrate. They are
characteristically B-cell neoplasms associated with EBV reactivation
in the immunosuppressed population. Approximately 50% contain EBV
genome; the virus most likely causes prolonged B-cell activation, and
with superimposed additional genetic alterations, the cells become
malignant. What would the CSF look like under the
microscope?
