15. Hemochromatosis - Medium Power
In this hematoxylin and eosin (H and E) stained section of a
cirrhotic liver from a patient with hemochromatosis, brown
hemosiderin (iron) deposits are noted in both periportal hepatocytes
and bile duct epithelial cells. This is a stain for iron (Prussian
blue stain) in a cirrhotic liver from a patient with hemochromatosis.
The blue-stained material is iron deposited as hemosiderin in
hepatocytes, Kupffer cells, and bile duct epithelial cells.
