6. Hepatocellular Carcinoma - Gross
This cirrhotic liver has a large, tan mass due to hepatocellular
carcinoma. Several satellite tumor nodules are present as well in the
liver away from the large mass. In areas of the world where the
prevalence of hepatitis B infection is high, vertical transmission of
the infection from pregnant mothers to their unborn children occurs
frequently. What implications does this have regarding the
epidemiology of hepatocellular carcinoma in these regions?
