2. Hyaline Membrane Disease - Gross
This gross photograph compares the external appearance of a portion
of the liver (lower specimen) with the lungs. The lungs appear solid,
pink, and airless. These are the characteristic findings in hyaline
membrane disease. The lungs seem to have an appearance similar to the
liver because of the extensive collapse and consolidation. What are
