12. Giant Cell Tumor of Bone - Micro
Histologically the tumor consists of a sheet of small mononuclear cells admixed with numerous giant cells. The proliferating neoplastic population is the small cell population. While this tumor is histologically benign, up to 4% of giant cell tumors metastasize to the lungs following surgery.
