In this micrograph, note the hyperchromatic and poorly-differentiated
neoplastic mesenchymal cells embedded in a cartilaginous matrix. In
more differentiated tumors, distinct lacunae can be identified. Why
is it important for the pathologist to grade chondrosarcomas?
