Donor Credits

Donors who give blood to replace that used by a patient can earn credits to be applied toward the patient's blood bill. Each donation counts as $10 credit off of the amount being charged for blood. It is possible to negate the entire blood fee if enough donations are given, but blood credits will not be applied to other parts of the hospital bill. Additionally, one unit donated does not counteract the entire cost of one unit used. Obviously, there are numerous expenses to be covered besides just the blood itself, which is always donated for free. Directed donations cannot count as blood credits. Some blood centers in other parts of the country may not give blood credits at all.
